Coffee & Conversation – Rowing Machine & Silver Sheens

As a little prelude to this writing I’d like to let you, my dear reader, know that The C.C. often have little conversations with me. The following is one such one. I must also add how delighted I am with our little chats –

Is there something to write?

Indeed dearest, there is.

About?

Something close to your heart, dearest.

And that is, pray tell.

Yesterday held many opportunities, dearest. Did it not?

Yes, it would have held many opportunities for everyone.

And what, dearest, did you do with the opportunities?

I believe I utilised my time quite well.

What did you do, dearest?

I exercised upon rising on my new rowing machine. I then did a few stretching exercises. I showered, dressed and had a healthy breakfast.

You are saying, dearest, that you occupied yourself well?

Yes, I believe I did.

Indeed, dearest, we know you did. Are you enjoying your new rowing machine?

I am, very much.

Why is this, dearest?

For the past few years, since the illness of 2013 – 2016 I haven’t been able to keep up a definite exercise routine. This irks me because I enjoy being active and fit.

And you are now active and fit, dearest?

No, not as yet. I am more active and fitter than I was; however, I believe I have a way to go before I am as active and as fit as I’d like to be.

And the rowing machine is assisting, dearest?

Yes it is. I’ve been inspired to increase the reps from 3 by 2mins to 3 by 4mins.

And this, you believe dearest, is assisting?

Absolutely yes. I was only saying to Veronica yesterday that I know I am stronger in just this short period of time – almost 2 weeks.

And how, dearest, do you know this?

Yesterday I pruned a number of our silver sheens in the backyard, and this morning I completed the task. The last time I pruned them I was exhausted and my arms ached even whilst pruning. Today I’ve not felt the same exhaustion, nor are my arms sore.

Our beautiful Silver Sheens made it through summer, thankfully. We’ve had very little rain and extremely hot summer weather.

And this, dearest, feels good?

Yes it does feel good. I do enjoy feeling strong and able to do those things I like to do.

Very well, dearest, we shall enjoy the feeling with you. Yes?

Yes, please do.

    1. Oh Charlie; I’m sure they quake when they see me coming, sheers in hand.. hahahh.. I really do mean business.. 🙂 🙂
And, just between you and me; they are gorgeous! 😉 😉

    1. These people are almost ‘magical’ in their abilities. And yet, it is all hard work and dedication. Amazing, beautiful, and can bring me to tears!
Thank You so much; It is soooo inspiring. As are you… 🙂

  1. Hahaaaa… They are gorgeous, Resa.
They are called ‘Silver Sheen’ because, in certain light, such as the late afternoon, they ‘shine’ a silvery tone – quite magical and very special.
However, they do need a prune twice each year else they overdo themselves and end up spindly and thin…. And I’m just the girl to do it… Hahaaa… 🙂

  2. Amazing discussion with Coffee around.
I think many can do this conversation on the subjects & objects they are in friends with or would like to have deal with them.
    Good Hint Carolyn!

  3. Good for you Carolyn – and the Silver Sheen look great – there is something to be said for the satisfaction of having a nice neat yard and the health benefits you get along with it. I love your post, thank you!

  4. Thank You, Joan, and welcome!
Yes, I certainly agree; a neat garden is such a joy and a healthful benefit, too.
I’ve always, except during illness, been quite a fitness fan; life holds so much more when one is fit. Everyday happenings, even getting up from a couch, can prove hard to do when the body is weak. With this in mind, and having lived this at times throughout my life, I opt to be as fit as I can be!

So pleased you stopped by to have a coffee with me… 🙂

    1. Hahah Christy; I am!
I have just finished rowing, some squats, calf raises and stretches… Hahah
      And, I’m feeling gooooood…
Exercising first thing in the morning (which is not something I’ve done before) is proving to be a great way to start the day.
All those gorgeous hormones – endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine sure make for a smoooooth entry into the day!

Thank You for having a coffee with me… ❤

  5. Oh dear! Nice reading about your path to increased strength and vitality, Carol ❤ This post also reminds me that I will need to start strength training as complement to my walking and jogging 🙂
    XOXO

  6. Good morning, Helen; it’s lovely to have you join me for coffee! 🙂
I am literally enjoying a coffee (soy milk). I drink decaf at home, however, this morning I’ve been inspired to go real… quite a surprise!
I’ve finished my exercises and stretches (+ a little yoga), made myself a tomato and mushroom omelette with a dollop of plain yogurt and a thin slice of sourdough; yum.
I’m loving my new routine, Helen, it is surprising me how energetic I feel. Here’s hoping it is a new beginning of ‘regular’ exercise.
Once again, lovely to see you… ❤

  7. That sounds like a good row a boat, dear Carolyn 😀 Keep it up girl! Your Silver Sheen looks amazing, we like it wild too 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend and see you on the coffee next time 🙂 ❤

    1. I would sing; “Row, row, row your boat; gently down the stream”. However, Dear Binky, this row a boat doesn’t swim! But, it does move me; back and forward; back and forward. It is soooo clever…. Hahah 😀
Oh yes, the Silver Sheen’s are bowing to you; and blushing a little, too! They have gone quite shy… They just love a compliment or two! 😻 😻 😻
Thank You for the Pawkisses, and Thank You for having coffee with me; it was scrumptious! ❤
