Ermilia’s Picture it & write (From the archives: Sunday 20th November 2011)
Once again, here is my offering to ‘Picture it & write’ hosted by Ermilia (Ermisenda and Eliabeth) who invite others to join them by writing a fictional story or poem to accompany an image presented on their blog.
There it sat, reminding me of those days.
It had been a bleak October day. Nothing was worse than a gloomy October day. Well nothing, that is, than a broken heart, coupled with broken memories.
The music played on and on. We swirled and glided across the dance floor, enraptured by the intensity of the music, and our love.
We were but babes in a world of magic. Our dreams were coming true.
We had made plans to be forever together; amidst the darker shade of the torment surrounding us. Together, we knew we could fly above the pain, above the anguish of the darkness that kept us safe from prying eyes.
The war raged, and the music swirled. The death and destruction bore down its evil amidst the ruins outside. Yet here, safe in our romance we thrilled, and stole kisses and passion; and we danced. Oh, how we danced.
And then he was gone. His troops were leaving at dawn.
The long empty years bore no resemblance to the music of those memories. Those stolen memories of love; encased within the music of the dance.
