Manha de Carnaval

Listen and Enjoy the wonderful Brasilian vocalist, Elizete Cardoso as she sings Manha de Carnaval (Morning of the Carnival) from the 1959 film ‘Orfeu Negro’ (Black Orpheus). A haunting, tender song written and composed by Luiz Bonfa and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
English Lyrics
I’ll sing to the sun in the sky,
I’ll sing while the sun rises high,
Carnival time is here,
Magical time of year,

And as the time draws near,
Dreams lift my heart!
_____
I’ll sing while I play my guitar,
I’ll cling to this dream from afar,
Will true love come my way,
On this Carnival day,
Or will love stay
In my heart?
_____
Will true love come my way,
On this Carnival day?
Or will I be alone with my dream?

Just because I like it, too! This is one great movie. It moves the heart…. forever! Think I’ll watch it again, soon. TY for the reminder via the music, Carolyn! (still pondering Foxglove) ❤
I saw the movie some years back when I first heard the music and fell in love with it! We searched for the DVD and eventually were able to buy one. Now, I notice, it’s on YouTube! 🙂

Thank you, Carolyn. Wish you love, joy and peace of the season.
Will look for the film on YouTube now.. Thanks.
It’s an oldie, but a goodie… 🙂
I watch oldies on a regular basis.. The last Brazilian film I watched was Doña Flor e sus dois maridos (Doña Flor and her two husbands.).. Cidade De Deus is a favourite.
