Hurry, hurry; I mustn’t be late.

Hurry, hurry; for I have a date.

Hurry, hurry; I mustn’t forget.

No time to ponder or I might be late.

___

Isn’t it time to ponder? Yes? No?

There does come a time when pondering is the best thing to do. Yes? No?

Indeed my friends; pondering can be fun. It can take us to many places, real or not real.

Most ponder with the imagination; this is true. We would ask that you do as the Dragonfly; he ponders upon the real.

Too many ponder upon the ‘not real’. This, my dear friends, causes much angst. Indeed, this type of pondering is ‘for the birds’. You understand my dear, dear friends?  We do not like birds; no, dear ones; birds tend to have sharp  beaks, indeed.

Do you want to be ‘taken by the birds with their sharp beaks? Yes? No?

Should you answer ‘no’ dear heart, we would suggest that you refrain from pondering the ‘not real’, and concentrate your pondering upon ‘facts’. Oh yes, my friends. Pondering facts will have the birds not worrying you; you will be safe in the confines of reality; indeed.

    1. They are gorgeous, Dolly.. I can see you now; a little girl (so cute) inspecting a dragonfly with all the curiosity of childhood… Thank You for telling me.. xoxoxo 🙂

  1. Thanks Carolyn. I like what you say. Too often our pondering goes down the road of illusion
and it tends to become destructive and delusional.

  2. Have to say – prefer my pondering in the realms of fantasy 😉
Real life is all too real, and not something I can ponder without getting morose!

    1. Haha, Ghia… yes I well understand what you say..!
Sometimes reality can seem all too cruel however, having a fantasy is a little different from ‘pondering’ the unreal… With fantasies, we generally know we ‘are’ fantasizing; whereas pondering the ‘unreal’ is generally caused by too much imagination in the wrong places, resulting in ‘unrest’.
Enjoy your fantasies, Ghia… Oooh, I think I’m seeing one of them now…! 😉

    1. Haha…. They do that really well; flitter..!
What strange and cute little creatures they are. Who’d have thought they would represent something so earthy and grounded…!
So glad you enjoyed, David… 🙂

  3. I was always scared of bugs! Especially the ones that darted down on me when I was floating in my pool! LOL. But you put a light, sweet touch on this, a twist that made me ponder…. maybe I was looking at them all wrong!? Great writing as always!

    1. Yes, insects are funny like that; they either scare the dickens out of you, or you love them..!
I’m happy ’bout the ‘light, sweet touch’..! See, there you go; that little Dragonfly is working for you already… 😉

  4. I remember being on a small island at camp in the summer, and when the mosquitoes got too thick, they would drop a dense cloud of Dragonflies on us. I like this memory. Well, time to ponder! Love your post Carolyn! 🙂 xo

    1. Yes, I agree; I’ve always loved them..!
I can’t believe the amount of differing types of Dragonfly; they come in so many shapes and colours…
I couldn’t resist; I just looked up Wikipedia where it is said there are about 5680 different species..! The insect world is quite phenomenal…! 🙂

  5. Absolutely truthfully correct and inspiring thoughts.Thank you so much for liking few of my post.l appreciate your feedback.Have a wonderful day.jalal

    1. Indeed, dear heart. A troubled heart will always find a means to escape. Is this a good thing? We think not; it leads only to a deeper sadness and a greater loss of self esteem.

  6. Thanks for the inspiring reminder Carolyn! Sometimes I tend to spend time worrying about “what isn’t” and of course that’s not productive. Something I’ll need to learn in this life time to let go 🙂

    1. I believe it’s a part of the human psyche to do this…. However, it’s a great challenge to overcome and be free, too…..!
      Here’s to ‘freedom’….. xoxoxo 🙂

    1. I’ve been away ‘up north’ over the Easter break, Smak… Sorry for taking so long to respond; we’ve been ‘dancing our little hearts out’ at our favourite comp. We saw so many Dragonflies I had to remind myself of the reflection, and stay with ‘the facts’….!!! 😉

      1. Always a good plan! Hope you had fun up North.

And what does “Up North” even mean, anyway? Do you people use the same compass as we do?

And I should note (because you’re very good at answering my many questions) that this time I’m being facetious.

        1. “this time I’m being facetious.” – I could tell; honest… 😉 😉
We had a ball, Smak… I do love a good dance comp.. and this one is my all time favourite..! Mind you, it’s a 9 hour car trip (11 with food stops) so loving it is essential. (Helps if you’re a little dance crazy too…) 😉

  7. I like birds, but sometimes I forget to wear a helmet when I go out to the feeder, and one will light on my head and start pecking away. Next thing you know, I’ve got sawdust all over my shoulders, and my dandruff problem looks even worse than it really is… : (

    At such times I ponder getting a dragonfly feeder instead… : )

    1. Smiling a big, broad smile, Mark. I can see you now with dragonflies lifting those dandruff flakes from your shoulders as others ‘kiss’ your sawdust, making it sparkle as sweetly as their wings… Ahhhh such a wonderful sight…. xoxoxo 🙂

  8. I love pondering. I personally think the act of pondering has many questions compared to just daydreaming. It’s good to have a balance of both. Great post!

  9. Loved the close-up of the dragonfly, Carolyn. The colors are amazing! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen one up close like that. Must go ponder the fact… 😀

    1. I love crystals, Yaz. I have a small collection, which I’ve had for years and years. They have accompanied me on my spiritual journey throughout those years; I certainly wouldn’t part with them.
I’m not being inspired to re-blog, Yaz; though I wish Marion all the best in her venture; as I do you, sweet girl…

  10. safe in the confines of reality… a lovely thought. i’m so glad to have read this today, it felt very significant and very fitting for this moment. i love too that you featured dragonflies.. i rarely see them these days.

    1. Yes, I too enjoyed the phrase ‘safe in the confines of reality’. I can’t say I’ve ever thought of reality in that way before..!

The dragonfly is so gorgeous; we are seeing less and less of them as the days begin to grow shorter and cooler…. xoxoxo 🙂

  11. I’m afraid I spend way too much time pondering in the non-reality, though I ponder in reality as well. I think it is a valuable luxury to have the time and ability to ponder. It’s definitely food for thought! 🙂

    1. “I think it is a valuable luxury to have the time and ability to ponder.”
I agree wholeheartedly, Marcia. It must have something to do with, dare I say ‘maturing’.
I really enjoy a good ‘think’ these days….
      As you say; it is a valuable luxury – you’ve got me a pondering…. 😉 😉

  12. Hi Carolyn, I like pondering too. That’s really wonderful mind journey to me.

  13. That’s a great photo – & a great expression by you, Carolyn. Really love that photo though…

    1. You wouldn’t believe how long it took to find, Noeleen… and it ‘had’ to be that one..
I tried others, but no; it had to be that one… I love it, too… 🙂
