House Cleaning – Dust Upon Dust

Hello Dearest,

Are you well?

I believe I am well, though, this morning I’m feeling quite exhausted.

And why, dearest, is this?

All the house cleaning, I believe, is taking its toll. I’ve been rather ruthlessly cleaning skirting boards, blinds, little crevices in the window frames; you name it, I’ve seen dust and dirt hidden quite everywhere. To the naked eye it all appears quite clean. However, when curtains are removed and blinds pulled up there they are – little dust and dirt hiding places. I’ve been quite scrupulously cleaning all.

We live in the Hunter Valley where coal mines are prevalent; hence, dust follows upon dust. I can remove dust every day, at times. It’s a constant.

Indeed dearest, we know this is true.

You regularly visit our Dear Heart Keith’s mother’s home. Do you not?

Yes we do, regularly.

And there is a major difference, dearest?

This is true. Her home is approximately, 600kl north; far away from coal mining. I was truly shocked the first time I realised her home did not need dusting from day to day. In fact, from week to week.

Twenty two years of living in my home and being quite used to the cleaning effort that is needed to keep our living surroundings free from dust and the build-up of dust, blinded me to the difference.

Indeed dearest, we understand. Do you enjoy your home?

Yes I do, extremely. Apart from the dust that accumulates so easily, our home is more than satisfactory.

Would you consider moving, dearest?

That thought has been on my mind of late. I am not quite as attached to our home as once I was.

We know this is true. You are ‘open’ to the thought and possible action?

Yes I am.

Good dearest, this is good. An open mind is an enquiring mind. Yes?

Yes. I no longer feel an attachment to our home or our surroundings; as pleasant as they are.

We shall leave our tête-à-tête here, dearest.

Our hope is that you will avail yourself of the information to be found within ‘Volume 1’ of our new series – ‘How To Achieve Freedom From Fear’.

  1. Hello Carolyn !

Thats sounds like a great deal of cleaning & I guess good exercise to boot.🤪

I am a dog/house sitter & that takes me all over. I joined for the engagement with the animal community. My love. Although the houses I sit are truly beautiful in terms of ascetics and location. This experience has been wonderful in so many ways.

Mentioning this as it’s a great way to explore other areas. Have a peek if you fancy.

    1. “I guess good exercise to boot.🤪”

My little legs are agreeing wholeheartedly… Up and down on the stool. Squatting here there and everywhere! Oh yes, exercising galore!

What a great way to see your environment. And, house/dog sitting sounds fun. Yes, animal lover you are!

Thanks for the info; I’ll bear that in mind.
      🤗🙏🤗

    1. Charlee, I do believe your Dada would know of ‘dusting’.

Or, perhaps Mama may be the one to speak with.

I do hope that, like Keith’s mother’s home, there is little dusting to be done. It is not the best or creative thing with which to fill your time. Better to stay on your beautiful four legs and leave the ‘dusting’ to the two legs. Yes, that’s a much better idea!

So sorry to be so late replying. That naughty spam folder ate this, and your latest comment. But, I saved them both – cause I can!

    1. Hello Sheryl,
Yes, it’s true! How much cleaning really depends upon whether the wind is blowing and from what direction. I am very mindful to keep the windows closed on the west, south west side of the house when the wind is blowing from those directions. I luv wind, but also luv when its not blowing at all; makes for less dusting and cleaning.

Oh well, just one of life’s little challenges. It could be so much worse!

Thanks for your visit, and for your comment. I’ll duck over to your blog later this afternoon. A little ‘peek’ looked very inviting… :)

    1. So true, Denise!
That was an awesome workout. Now back to the normal ‘everyday’ cleaning – not the ‘extreme’ workout of those few days. Phew! I am, though, thoroughly enjoying my lovely clean house… 🏠🤗🙏

    1. Hahah… Yes, Gary, it sure can be tiring at times. The past few days I’ve had a great rest (after the extreme cleaning) and I’m feeling ‘good to go’.

However, I keep glimpsing (out of the corner of my eye) a few windows that need some TLC.

Hahah… just like weeding in the garden, some things just never end… 😂
