Halcyon Days!

Our dearest is having ‘the time of her life’; yes sir’ee. What is meant, Dear Hearts is; our dearest is enjoying life to the full.

It has been explained that for those interested in Backwards Aging will come, in time and with great work upon ridding yourself of fear, a period of halcyon days. These halcyon days will continue for the remainder of your life, Dear One. This is correct, Dear Hearts. And this is what our dearest Carolyn is currently experiencing.

This is overwhelming our dearest, to a degree, of late. It has been but a short while since this period of change began. Indeed, Dear Ones, it has been but a short period indeed.

Regardless of this, our dearest has had her ups and her downs. We shall explain:

Currently our dearest is experiencing a minor illness; a virus, as our dearest purports. Indeed, we shall advise our dearest, via this writing, that indeed her physical discomfort has been perpetrated upon her so as she may appreciate that although she may feel physical discomfort, her mental and emotional state remain peaceful and calm. Do they not?

Our dearest reports in the affirmative.

And this we shall disclose to you, Dear Brave Hearts. Backwards Aging is not a panacea for all that ills; no indeed not. However, Dear Ones, it will be, in time and with great effort on your behalf, a solution to the ills of the brain of man. Troubles will become a thing of the past for those who qualify for the period: Halcyon Days.

    1. Thank You, Megala… 🙂
It’s really a very minor disturbance; but one that is presenting many new appreciations regarding Backwards Aging. I do feel some physical discomfort, however, my spirit is alive and well… 🙂

    1. Thank You, Jo… I’m really quite okay.
This post has opened my eyes to yet another positive aspect to Backwards Aging and the releasing of our fears… We may feel physically unwell; however, when we are not engaged in fearful thoughts and worries the physical aspect of illness also diminishes. This experience is actually teaching me so much.
      Sending Love…

        1. That is such a good point, Jo. Yes, I can certainly agree with you. Humour is such a good tonic for what ails. In fact, Jo; just having the ability to re-direct our thinking to a more positive position is a marvelous skill in itself. 🙂
Wonderful to know you do this… 🙂

  1. Halcyon Days sound just right! Hope you are well on your way to being recovered, as I write this. I understand one’s body can be ill, down, but the spirit the spirit is healthy, up! 😘xoxoxo

    1. Indeed, Dear Heart; our dearest’s spirit is alive and well, as the saying goes.
We have presented our dearest with a slight feeling of being unwell. However, the purpose of this is becoming quite clear to her.
Illness had been one of our dearest’s greatest fears; having suffered many illnesses throughout her life. Through this minor experience of illness comes a greater appreciation. This appreciation being, Dear Heart:
For those suffering illness, of any kind, will come, with great hard work of releasing fear, the Halcyon Days that our dearest now experiences.
This will become the benchmark for many. Illness will, indeed, become a minor aspect of life; and not the debilitating focal point within the lives of those who have agreed to illness as a part of their life experience.
Many Blessings to you, Dear One, and to many.

  2. Alcyone and Ceyx were very happy together in Trachis, and according to Pseudo-Apollodorus’s account, often sacrilegiously called each other “Zeus” and “Hera”. This angered Zeus, so while Ceyx was at sea (going to consult an oracle according to Ovid’s account), the god threw a thunderbolt at his ship. Soon after, Morpheus (god of dreams) disguised as Ceyx appeared to Alcyone as an apparition to tell her of his fate, and she threw herself into the sea in her grief. Out of compassion, the gods changed them both into common kingfishers, or “halcyon birds”, named after her.

Ovid and Hyginus both also recount the metamorphosis of the pair in and after Ceyx’s loss in a terrible storm, though they both omit Ceyx and Alcyone calling each other Zeus and Hera (and Zeus’s resulting anger) as a reason for it. Ovid also adds the detail of her seeing his body washed up onshore before her attempted suicide.

The myth is also briefly referred to by Virgil, again without reference to Zeus’s anger.

Ovid and Hyginus both also make the metamorphosis the origin of the etymology for “halcyon days”, the seven days in winter when storms never occur. They state that these were originally the 14 days each year (seven days on either side of the shortest day of the year during which Alcyone (as a kingfisher) laid her eggs and made her nest on the beach and during which her father Aeolus, god of the winds, restrained the winds and calmed the waves so she could do so in safety. The phrase has since come to refer to any peaceful time. Its proper meaning, however, is that of a lucky break, or a bright interval set in the midst of adversity; just as the days of calm and mild weather are set in the height of winter for the sake of the kingfishers’ egglaying.

    1. SD, my usual habit is to lead my posts with a ‘feature image’. On this occasion, much to my surprise, and for the first time since publishing posts, I wasn’t inspired to look for, or add an image.
After reading your marvelous account of Alcyone and Ceyx and their relationship with the ‘Halcyon Birds’, the Kingfisher; I then knew, and was inspired to add the feature image of the beautiful Kingfisher.
Thank You for your wonderful contribution to this post. 🙂

    1. Thank You, Dear Christy.. I’m fully recovered.. Hurrah! 🙂
As The C.C. mention; this minor illness had a purpose. I now appreciate the lesson intended, and am just a little excited to know that for those with an illness (or who acquire an illness) will, providing they work hard to release their fears; find themselves less affected by their physical state. I can’t tell you how joyful this makes me. Having had many illnesses and suffered the mental and emotional trauma illness can create; this knowledge is like coming upon a ‘spring of fresh water in a desert’… So good to know that many will benefit…
It’s lovely to see you.. Do have a wonderful weekend… 🙂
